After seemingly letting her down easy about his own marriage prospects, their conversation turns back to Mr. Darcy, and Elizabeth soon learns a shocking truth. It was none other than Mr. Darcy who stepped in to stop the potential marriage between Mr. Bingley and Jane. The news is so distressing that Elizabeth is immediately unwell.
